In-Person and Online Equine Courses and Treatment
Sozo Equine® specializes in teaching horse owners how to provide the best treatment and care for their own horses. Every horse has something new to teach us. Each day I strive to be better for them.
I grew up on horses. Like literally fell asleep on them riding before I was one.
I have a degree in occupational therapy and found myself applying my education to horses more than I did humans. I worked in outpatient rehab for 3 years while I was taking all of my experiments home to try on my own horses.
I had two horses that seemed to keep me in constant contact with the vet. I ended up feeling hopeless, helpless, and discouraged in being able to help them feel better, and especially ever be able to perform again.
I started my “official” journey into equine rehab just by wanting to help my own horses. I started to feel different as I learned more.
As I learned more I started to feel things like: Hopeful. Encouraged. Empowered.
I want to give those things to you. Horse owners know their horse better than anyone else.
You know when they start to just feel “off”. Now I want to give you the tools to know how to respond when they feel “off”.
My education in functional anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and activity analysis in my human practice are principals I use everyday in my equine practice.
My certifications for my equine practice include:
Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist
Certified Myofascial Release Practitioner
Certified Craniosacral Practitioner
Certified Equine Kinesiology Taping Practitioner
Certified Equine Taping Instructor
I have a vision to change the narrative and the relationship between equine professional and horse owner. Learn how to treat your horse with kinesiology taping techniques and more so your horse can move pain-free.
You, as a horse owner, are the ultimate expert on your own horse.
You have a more sensitive feel and eye for your horse and when they’re off than anyone else.
You spend the most time watching them move, putting your hands on them, and feeling how they move under you.
By educating you, I am sharpening your skills to be the best care giver of your own horses.
The Meaning of “Sozo”
To be made whole.
To save a suffering one.
To make well.
Heal. Rescue. Restore.
When I set out to determine a business name I was looking for something that truly captured the word "wellness" of the entire being.
In the Bible, the word "Sozo" is translated to “well” - and is used three times in stories of healing in the gospels.
There is a story when Jesus heals ten lepers, but only one returns to praise Him.
Jesus responds to the one that returned in Luke 17:19:
And he said to him, "Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well (Sozo)."
There is another story about a woman that had a health condition that resulted in her bleeding for 12 years. She sought out Jesus for healing, and when she did, Matthew 9:22 says.
Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, "Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well." And instantly the woman was made well (Sozo).
In the third story, Jesus heals a blind man, and Jesus responds to the man in Mark 10:52:
And Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well (Sozo)." And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.
